Vedic Smile Oral Care is a comprehensive daily oral health care package that integrates the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with modern scientific evidence. By promoting mindful practices for cleaning, rinsing, and massaging the oral hard and soft tissues, it guides individuals toward enhancing the harmony of the mind, body, and oral health.

The Concept

Vedic Smile Oral Care, is founded on the principles of awareness, self-care, and mindful practice, emphasizing a proactive approach to oral and overall well-being. This philosophy extends beyond conventional dental care, empowering individuals to take an active role in their oral health. By fostering a deeper understanding of the intrinsic link between oral hygiene and systemic wellness, Vedic Smile Oral Care promotes sustainable, preventive, and holistic practices that contribute to maintain Oral Ecosystem Harmony for long-term optimal oral health vitality.

Awareness : Educating individuals on the critical connection between oral health and overall well-being, fostering informed decision-making and accountability in oral care.

Self-Care : Promoting the adoption of healthy habits and a proactive mindset toward daily oral care, empowering individuals to take ownership of their oral health.

Mindful Practice : Implementing an evidence-based oral care protocol with a mindful approach, fostering a deeper connection between mind, body, and oral health harmony.

The Protocol

The Vedic Smile Oral Care Protocol is structured around the mindful practice of Cleaning, Rinsing, and Massaging (CRM) the entire mouth—essential steps for maintaining Oral Ecosystem Harmony and ensuring long-term optimal oral health.

The human mind is often restless, much like a "monkey," and taming it during daily oral care is essential. Whether cleaning, rinsing, or massaging the mouth, mindful instructions, along with the appropriate tools and materials, are necessary to bring the mind into the present moment with the right intention.

In Vedic Smile Oral Care, we recommend the following three tips to bring your mind into the present moment of oral care practice:

  1. Look into the mirror and take a quick glance at your mouth.
  2. Assess the condition of the hard and soft tissues by gently rolling your tongue over all surfaces.
  3. Be compassionate and grateful to your teeth and other oral structures for serving you since birth. Give a “Happy SMILE” and prepare to begin your oral hygiene practice.

These simple steps help guide you to the present moment, eliminate distractions, reduce stress and anxiety, and foster inner calm. By strengthening the mind-body connection, they enhance the effectiveness of your oral care routine, transforming it into a practice that is not only efficient but also enjoyable.

Mindful Clean - Rinse - Massage (CRM) Practice

CLEAN

The primary objective of mouth cleaning - including tooth brushing, flossing, tongue cleaning, mouth gargling, and ora-gum massaging—is to meticulously remove food debris and dental plaque from the hard and soft surfaces of the mouth. Additionally, these practices help enhance saliva flow and blood circulation, contributing to the maintenance of a balanced oral ecosystem. Mouth cleaning is fundamentally a mechanical process that requires the proper skills, tools, and materials.

To simplify the adoption of Vedic Smile Oral Care into your daily hygiene routine, mouth cleaning can be divided into the following oral care activities:

Hard Tissue (Teeth) Cleaning : Optimal cleaning of the teeth, which constitute the hard tissues of the oral cavity, is essential for maintaining oral hygiene and preventing common dental issues such as tooth decay and periodontal diseases. Proper care of these hard tissues not only preserves the structural integrity of the teeth but also plays a vital role in overall oral health. Recognizing the importance of this practice, Vedic Smile Oral Care introduces "Meditative Tooth Brushing (MTB)," a unique approach that emphasizes mindful brushing techniques. MTB not only ensures thorough cleaning but also fosters a deeper connection between mind and body and oral health, transforming a routine task into a holistic oral care habit.

Soft Tissue (Gum, Oral Mucosa and Tongue) Cleaning : Vedic Smile Oral Care emphasizes that the teeth represent only 23% of the total surface area of the oral cavity. For comprehensive oral hygiene, it is essential to clean the gums, oral mucosa, and tongue as part of daily oral care. After brushing the teeth, the same soft toothbrush can be used—without toothpaste—to gently clean the gums and oral mucosa. Proper tongue cleaning or scraping is strongly recommended in Vedic Smile Oral Care to remove accumulated toxins (known as Ama in Ayurveda), bacteria, and food debris from the tongue’s surface. This practice not only promotes oral hygiene and prevents halitosis but also stimulates the taste buds, enhancing taste perception and supporting digestive health.

RINSE

In Vedic Smile Oral Care, the RINSE process begins with holding fluid in the mouth to its full capacity, a practice known as Gandusha in Ayurveda. This is done for a specific duration without allowing any movement inside the mouth. The positive pressure created during this process may stimulate blood flow to the oral tissues, promoting healing and encouraging nasal breathing. Subsequently, a portion of the fluid is spat out, and the remaining fluid is vigorously swished around the mouth, a process referred to as Kavala Graha in Ayurveda. This swishing should continue for 1-2 minutes before expelling the fluid. This practice helps cleanse and soothe the oral cavity, remove toxins, prevent oral infections, combat bad breath, and promote a feeling of freshness.

MASSAGE

In contemporary dentistry, massaging the oral hard and soft tissues is performed using suitable medicated toothpaste or herbal gel, such as TURVERA. Massaging the gums including interdental papillae and oral mucosa helps improve gum health, enhance breath freshness, and maintain a smooth, hydrated oral environment. This practice promotes blood circulation within the oral soft tissues and contributes to a balanced oral microbiome. The primary goal of massaging tooth surfaces with medicated toothpaste is to protect, strengthen, and re-mineralize the tooth structures. For gum and oral mucosa massage, fingertips or a soft toothbrush can be used, applying gentle pressure in a circular motion and specific directions. However, for effective massaging of the tooth surfaces, Vedic Smile Oral Care recommends using a soft toothbrush.
